Your security is our top priority. GatherGift uses industry-leading platforms like Stripe Connect to handle all payments, meaning your financial information is processed with the highest security standards and we never store your sensitive payment details directly.

It saves guests time and stress by eliminating the need to shop and coordinate. You avoid decision fatigue, ensure no duplicate gifts, and ultimately contribute to a more joyful and streamlined birthday celebration for everyone.

We believe in giving back. Every GatherGift page supports UNICEF. During the checkout process, contributors are given the option to voluntarily add a donation to support their important work. These donations are entirely optional and separate — they do not reduce the total funds raised for your primary gift.

When someone contributes to your gift, the funds are securely held in your connected Stripe account. Before you can withdraw, you'll need to close your GatherGift from your dashboard — this stops new contributions and lets any recent ones begin clearing. Closing the gift triggers the clearing process, so funds that arrived just before you closed (typically within the last 24 hours) will need the usual clearing period (around 2 business days) before they become available. Once everything has cleared, you can release your funds directly from your dashboard with one click — we consolidate all available contributions into a single, lump-sum transfer to your bank account, so you receive everything at once rather than as rolling payouts. You'll receive an email notification as soon as the transfer to your bank is complete, typically within another 1–2 business days.

There are two parts to this. When someone contributes, Stripe charges a standard processing fee on that payment (around 2% + $0.30 for Australian domestic cards, subject to change) — this is shown as a separate line at checkout so the contributor pays it on top of their gift. When you withdraw your funds to your bank account, there is no Stripe fee on the transfer itself — the full available balance goes straight to your bank. GatherGift takes no cut of the gift amount — optional tips and charity donations are separate and never reduce the recipient's payout.
